Avec mes partenaires Bernard Dauvergne et Sophie Dauvergne (sa femme) / Daniel Carrière, nous rencontrons deux des toutes meilleures paires du monde: Meckstroth-Rodwell ("MeckWell", de l'avis de beaucoup de monde la meilleure paire mondiale), et Lauria-Versace (champions du monde en titre 2005...) aux Championnats d'Europe Open 2003 à Menton. Nous gagnons le match de (malheureusement seulement) 10 donnes sur le score de 19-11, et avons la chance d'avoir une donne jouée à la table dans le bulletin du championnat. Nous arrivons au bon contrat (au contraire de Lauria-Versace), et Bernard le gagne grâce à un squeeze tricolore sur Rodwell !

We played against Lauria-Versace / Meckstroth-Rodwell (two of the very top world pairs) at the European Open Championship 2003 in Menton, with my partner Bernard Dauvergne and Sophie Dauvergne (his wife) / Daniel Carrière. After a short match of (sadly only) 10 deals, we defeated them 19-11, and a deal at our table appeared in the championship bulletin: we reached the correct contract contrary to Lauria-Versace, and Bernard squeezed Rodwell in three suits to make it! After the match, Rodwell asked the French champion Jean-Christophe Quantin "who are these guys ???".

Clem-Bridge: a windows bridge program (under development) using Bidding Files (*.bid)

The program is expected to play a precise 5-card major system (french-style) including:

• 2NT/3NT artificial major raises (11-12/13-15 distribution points), splinters; various game tries; Drury
• Major and minor transfers after a 1NT/2NT opening; 4-way Stayman (e.g. 2NT=both majors); looks for the best game with unbalanced hands (singleton...)
• Check-back Stayman after a 1NT ("Roudi") or 2NT rebid
• 4th forcing suit and 3rd forcing suit after opener rebids his minor
• Strong 2 Clubs and 2 Diamonds (game forcing) bids, french-style
• Roman Key Cards Blackwood after having checked all controls; quantitative 4NT
• Various cue-bids (fit showing, asking for stopper, control showing...) and doubles (take out, 3-card fit showing, game tries...)
• Weak major 2's; precise 2-suit bids (Michael's style); aggressive bidding in proper seat

Current Status (10/4/2000): 2047 bids "swallowed" by the program

• Slams are bid directly (no control or RKCB)
• Some bidding sequences are incomplete, especially after a strong rebid by opener (except 2NT)
• After a 2/1 bid only the first rebid is encoded
• 4th and 3rd forcing suit sequences are not finished
• A routine allowing the program to find the best bid when none is available in the database is in progress
• No competitive bidding
